The art criticism process is how a piece of artwork is viewed and judge positively and/ or negatively. Criticism can be helpful words of wisdom on how you should have done it or a more aggressive approach could be more harsh. I would critique any work with words of wisdom, with this piece i should have used some different colors to make the shadows and shades pop more on the piece of paper rather than use the normal 4-6 colors i used throughout the entire piece. I would have also rather have taken more time on the detail in the face of my sister ( on the right). And also choose to do a better background.
WHO? I chose my sister Adrienne to be in the portrait because she was a big part of my life and i thought of this as a small memorial to her.
WHY (the medium)? I would have rather done oil pastels because i feel when i take my time with those they turn out better than most of my other pieces. But instead i chose to do colored pencils because thats what my sister used to draw with all the time. She only drew on occasion but when she did it was some beautiful works just out of simple colored pencil.
